Chianni is a small village in the Alta Valdera, located in the Pisan Hills.
Of medieval origins (but Etruscan tombs have been found), it has remained almost unchanged over the centuries.
There is an eternal dualism between wild and unspoiled nature (on its mountainous side the Mediterranean scrub reigns supreme) and man-made land, in plots used for olive groves, vineyards – often laboriously torn from the scrub – and hills of wheat.
In the center, the castle, the historical seal of the fusion of these realities. The bell tower dominates the surrounding olive groves, houses, woods, with authoritative benevolence and, over the years, its unmistakable silhouette has been photographed and admired by tourists from all over the world, becoming one of the symbols of this part of Tuscany.
Chianni's strength lies in its hospitality.
Whether you choose to stay at a farmhouse in the countryside, in a villa in the woods, or in a historic house in the center, for a few days, or for entire seasons, you will feel part of this community.
You will have a coffee at the village bar, and probably, you will take part in one of our endless card games. You will find ladies ready to reveal their family recipes to you. Probably, if you have enough time, you will take part in our olive harvests and grape harvests. Unfortunately it will not be easy to find a Chiannerino who takes you looking for mushrooms, everyone jealously guards his favorite places!
If you come in summer, it will be sweet to nap in the shade of a tree, lulled by the chirping of cicadas. If you arrive in autumn, the scents of the forest and its gastronomic gifts will enchant you.
And we are sure that when you return home you will never be the same. Those who pass through here become "Chiannerino".
